Sick Kids Hospital Boomerang Health
C& Partners Architects is hired by Sick Kids Hospital to design a new clinic in the City of Vaughan, which is north of Toronto. C& Partners' focus on patient-centered design has opened up possibilities for a contemporary space that is intuitive, educational, interactive and fun.
This space is designed for toddlers, young adults who visit with their parents and health care supervisors. Considering the perspectives of both children and young adults from a variety of cultural backgrounds, we have incorporated whimsical and playful installations into the environment without relying on juvenile graphics.
Governed by a way-finding navigation system that is designed for the young mind to comprehend, spaces in the clinic are immediately accessible and comforting for both patients and staff. What used to be daunting hallways and corridors in clinics are given a facelift to create a welcoming environment.
