The clinic is organized into clearly defined zones that facilitate navigation, optimize circulation, and support infection prevention and control measures. These zones are designated for staff operations, patient treatment, and patient recovery. The layout establishes a sequential circulation system for both patients and staff, incorporating separate entrances, distinct waiting areas for check-in and check-out, and controlled movement through designated occupancy zones.
Natural light serves as a key organizing element within the clinic, enhancing wayfinding and reinforcing movement between spaces. To maximize its impact, the design team conducted an extensive analysis of the existing building, including window locations and daylight patterns, to inform the clinic’s layout. Each zone is strategically positioned to benefit from natural light, particularly in patient rehabilitation and recovery areas, where access to daylight contributes to a more restorative environment. Artificial LED lighting complements these natural light sources, illuminating hallways and task-oriented spaces while creating a balanced and adaptable lighting experience throughout the clinic.
Zone divisions and partitions further support navigation and user comfort through varying degrees of transparency and privacy. Light transmission is carefully calibrated according to programmatic requirements, with treatment and procedure rooms incorporating greater visual privacy, while waiting, rehabilitation, and communal areas allow for increased openness and daylight penetration. Together, these design strategies create a welcoming, intuitive, and efficient healthcare environment that responds to the distinct needs of patients, physicians, and staff.
